A Man Has A Loyal Dog That Follows Him Everywhere, Even Into The Pub

The publican was worried that the big do with his wagging tail will knock some of his older punters off their bar stools.

A compromise was reached, and the dog had his tail docked. The publican kept it preserved in a jar behind the bar.

Many years later, the dog died. At the pearly gates, St Peter said that since the dog wasn't 'complete', he couldn't get to heaven.

The dog's spirit returned to Earth late at night, and started pawing and scratching at the door of the pub.

The publican, that had shut and was just about to leave, opened the door to the ethereal vision of the dog.

The dog (being able to speak, of course) asked for his tail back so he could get into heaven.

The publican replied "Sorry mate, It's after 11 and I've closed. I can't re-tail spirits at this hour".
